Welcome to Mindful Movement

About Us

I’m Sam Helfer, PT, DPT and fellow advocate for you and your body’s health and well-being.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, a surgery, or you are just looking to feel and perform your best, you’ve come to the right place. I’m a licensed Physical Therapist with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Master of Science in Exercise Science and over 15 years of experience in group, personal and performance training. I’ve been practicing physical therapy in this setting for the better half of a decade. Let’s work together to get you to where you want to go.

What matters to me most is that you feel good and get the best possible treatment because you deserve it. Chances are you’ve felt a little discouraged with the discomfort or pain you’ve been feeling. You’re not in this alone. I’ve got your back. Time to put in the work and start healing.

Our Process

You’ve been trying to get back to your old self. You’ve seen multiple providers with minimal to no results. Or the only solution you’ve been given is to stop doing the things you love. What you’re looking for is a trusted professional who has your best interests – and your body – in mind.

That’s what you’ll get at Mindful Movement Physical Therapy.

We start with a holistic evaluation.

We find root causes and solutions.

You get back to what you love.

We’ll start treating symptoms in the first session – why wait? You’ve already been waiting long enough to feel better.

I not only want you to feel back to your old self – but better than that. I want you to feel and perform better than before you had the injury. Become better and stronger than before you had to start searching for a physical therapist.

You’re here because you’re sick of the same treatment plan that doesn’t get you where you want to go. Time to get back to what you truly enjoy and challenge yourself to become stronger with the help of someone who wants to see you at your best. You’ll leave our sessions feeling empowered, inspired and strong.

Let’s build a plan that’s right for you.

Ready to get to work?

Mindful Movement Physical Therapy is for you if…

  • You feel unsatisfied with the care you’ve received elsewhere.
  • You’d like more than 15 minutes of a doctor’s time.
  • You want to get down to the root cause of your pain.
  • You’re motivated and looking to feel better in the long term.
  • You’d like to perform at the top of your game.

A quick note on the importance of your HEALTH care –

As a cash-based, out-of-network Physical Therapy provider, I provide one-on-one orthopedic rehabilitation, sports performance, and everything in between with undivided attention.

I am a talented manual therapist and include that treatment in the majority of my client sessions. Since I have more time to spend with the client, I can be extremely attentive and thorough in our session. As a movement specialist, I notice small movement faults and can be present and focused on my client to identify and correct these issues, maximizing results and outcomes!

Say goodbye to the days where your PT is splitting their attention. Unlike most physical therapists, I see one patient at a time to get maximum results. We can make significant progress in just a few sessions. With my additional experience in weight training and sports performance, you’ll go further with treatment than ever before.

I pride myself on being easily accessible for clients outside of treatment time. Clients always feel heard and confident with their treatment plans and ability to recover and improve their health and fitness.

If you’re ready to become stronger and heal your body for the long-term, let’s get to work!

No matter whether your condition is an acute injury, a sport incident,
or chronic pain, we look forward to best serving you.

Dr. Sam is a phenomenal physical therapist! After figuring out the source of my injury, he provided targeted rehab exercises that led to a lasting recovery where I have regained strength and mobility in my shoulder. And his ability to communicate complex concepts effectively into understandable terms was an incredibly helpful part of the process. His passion for his craft shines through in every interaction; I am grateful for his expertise, patience, and positivity throughout this healing journey. If you're in need of a top-notch physical therapist who goes above and beyond- Dr. Sam is the PT for you!

I went to the different physical therapy in the past, they couldn’t help me with my neck and back pain, being referred to Mindful Movement, and in just two weeks starting feeling different! Highly recommend Dr. Sam! He really knows what he’s doing.

Would highly recommend Sam to anyone who is looking for high quality PT. Sam helped me identify the root cause of my Achilles discomfort and not only is helping me recover, but with the goal of healing stronger to prevent the issue from reoccurrence. Athletes and non-athletes alike would benefit from Sam’s holistic and consultative approach.

I have been seeing Sam for a month now. The amount of time spent on finding the root cause of my pain was second to none. With that and his ability to explain what the cause was, in an understandable way, made me feel how much he truly cares about his patients. With manual therapy and prescribed exercises I was having improvements within the first week and still am today. I highly recommend giving Sam a try for your PT needs. Especially if you have been to other providers, with no progress.

I can not recommend Dr. Sam enough. I first went to him with debilitating lower back pain and stiffness, and he put together a recovery program that not only got me back on my bicycle, it made me a stronger cyclist. I went from barely being able to stand up straight in February, to finishing a 570+ mile bike trip this June with very little pain and zero loss of mobility. His attention and care are second to none, and not only did he facilitate my quick recovery, he gave me a whole bunch of tools to manage any lower back/hip issues that may arise in the future. A+

Sam is a wonderful Physical Therapist, a wonderful trainer, and a caring, kind person. I've gone to lots of trainers and PT's throughout my years, but Sam stands above the rest with the results you will achieve working with him.

I cannot recommend seeing Sam at Mindful Movement enough. For the last 5 years, I’ve come in to see Sam with chronic issues, including knee and shoulder pain preventing full range of motion. Sam does a thorough and thoughtful assessment, leaving me feeling confident about the next steps toward feeling good again. He also really hears what you have to say about your experience in your body - and any aches, pains, and issues. I have seen a turnaround in my symptoms after seeing Sam and doing follow up exercises - and even more importantly, I feel prepared with knowledge and plans to prevent the same issues from reoccurring. The 1 on 1 attention also can’t be beat!

I have been fortunate to be able to work with Dr. Sam for years now. Ive come to him with various ailments over the years. Whether it’s a sprained ankle, neck issues, low back pain, you name it, he has been able to help. Sam is able to give me his full attention and listens to what is bothering me. I learn so much every time I come in for an appointment. I learn about my body, how it works, and ways to improve myself, physically and mentally. I’ve recommended him to multiple people over the years and will continue to do so. Thank you Sam!

Sam is AMAZING!! The time he takes to really listen to you and conduct a full evaluation is so rare these days. He explains everything in detail. I truly appreciate his thoroughness. He has helped me to stay active and to try new fitness experiences as I work to rehab my shoulder and hip.
